Pistorius overwhelmed by support

Having received messages of support that number in the thousands, Oscar Pistorius has taken to social media in order to show his appreciation for the efforts of each and every one of his supporters.

In an Olympics that have provided an abundance of record-breaking performances, Pistorius qualifying for the Men's 400m semifinal has been widely tipped as perhaps the standout achievement of the Games.

Speaking shortly after the race, Oscar attempted to articulate the impact of every kind word via his Twitter page: "As so many of you supported me over the weekend, I'd like to wish you a blessed, productive and all round successful week! I woke up this morning overwhelmed by the 1000s of messages of well wishes. Thank you for making this one of the greatest moments of my life!"

Oscar's Olympic dream is far from over however; he will be a part of the South African Men's 4 x 400m Relay quartet and will feature prominently in the upcoming Paralympic Games which takes place after the Olympics.
